The mission of Clinique TAG

Our mission is to relieve you of your pain as quickly as possible with the same quality of care that we would use to treat our own mother.

Dr. Sylvain Desforges, chiropractor

About Dr. Sylvain Desforges, chiropractor, B.Sc., D.C.

You can count on our chiropractor to explain in detail the nature of your condition, the various treatments that are most effective for your condition and the time needed for your recovery. You can always ask any questions you want, either in person or by phone.

Even if you are not yet a patient at our clinic, you will be able to talk directly to a chiropractor and he will make a point of answering all your questions. In addition, all our services, including those in chiropractic are available in less than 24 hours, 6 days a week.

Who is Dr. Sylvain Desforges, chiropractor

He was born and raised in Montreal (Borough of Verdun). He has been providing chiropractic care with passion in the Montreal metropolitan area since 1991. Dr. Desforges Chiropractor believes in a multidisciplinary approach to health care: he often collaborates with other professionals to ensure the best care to his patients. He will assess your individual needs, whether it is a spinal injury, extremities or soft tissue condition. Your chiropractor uses a variety of techniques, including:

  • A combination of chiropractic techniques (Diversified, Activator, Thompson, Applied Kinesiology and Gonstead)
  • Muscular release techniques (instrument assisted)
  • Shockwave therapy
  • Spinal decompression therapy
  • Laser therapy
  • Cox flexion-distraction technique

Dr. Sylvain Desforges chiropractor first attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College for two years and decided to continue his studies in the United States at Palmer College of Chiropractic , where he obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Doctorate in Chiropractic (DC) degrees in 1990.

He returned to the Montreal area in 1991 to begin practicing and currently lives in Mascouche with his wife and business partner, Natalie.

Dr. Desforges Chiropractor is passionate about health and uses chiropractic treatments and complementary therapies whenever possible to treat the root cause of the problem in order to have the greatest impact on your quality of life.

He continues to deepen his knowledge of different techniques and is eager to continue learning other therapies and techniques to boost his chiropractic practice. Sylvain is dedicated to improving the quality of life of his patients and makes every effort to help them achieve optimal health.

A former hockey and soccer player, he understands the impact that sports activities can have on your body. In this respect, he is the trusted chiropractor of many athletes in his community.

During his many years of practice, Sylvain noticed that each person reacts differently to the same treatment. For this reason, he tries to adapt each treatment, strategically, to the needs and preferences of each patient. In addition, he enjoys incorporating applied kinesiology, laser therapy, shockwave or spinal decompression techniques into his chiropractic treatments. Dr. Sylvain, your chiro, likes to treat various conditions, including: back pain, sciatica, herniated disc, carpal tunnel syndrome, heal spur, bursitis, tendonitis, shoulder pain, sports injuries and trauma.

He is dedicated to relieving pain, restoring function, and working with the patient to help take control of their own health and well-being.

In addition to health, he is interested in outdoor activities, motorcycling, animals, live bands and having fun with friends and family.

The impact we have in the lives of our patients and their families, helping them stay active, is very rewarding. We not only help people, but we help them live their lives to the full.

Innovative practices

In this regard, we NEVER offer a prepaid treatment plan (with contract and payment terms) to our patients: rather, we suggest the best care for you, depending on your condition, in order to achieve short-term, medium term or long term results, depending on your choice and your personal goals. We believe in the approach of person-centered health care where the patient, family, and health care providers decide together what treatment is most appropriate in the circumstances. This approach to person-centered health care is called “coordinated care management”.

Innovative practices are based on evidence and the highest quality of available information. They have been defined and evaluated by a clinical reference committee.

It is suggested that these innovative practices be used to create the foundation to support coordinated care management processes and to improve the care provided to patients at TAG chiropractic clinic.

How to describe TAG clinics

Tag clinics are modern, pleasant and located in professional centers. We also use state-of-the-art equipment and instruments.

The skills of our chiropractors

Chiropractors at the TAG Clinic all hold doctorate degrees in chiropractic recognized by the Quebec government (via the Office des professions du Québec) and the Ordre des chiropraticiens du Québec. The undergraduate doctorate is awarded to health professionals who have completed 5 years of university training. In Quebec, they are: chiropractor, medical doctor, podiatrist, veterinarian, dentist, pharmacist and optometrist.

The content of the doctorate in chiropractic degree includes courses in biological sciences and health – basic sciences, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, diagnosis – as well as specialized courses in all aspects of the chiropractic discipline: theoretical and technical studies, professional practice, diagnosis and applications.

Also including 1530 hours clinical training, which must be done at the university clinic under the supervision of experienced chiropractors, the doctorate in chiropractic is without doubt one of the most complete in the field of health sciences.

In addition, the chiropractor must maintain his skills, at a high level, his entire career: he must, unless dispensed in accordance with the law, accumulate a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education related to the exercise of the occupation by reference period of 2 years. The member holding a radiology permit must plan to accumulate a minimum of 12 hours per year of continuing education in radiology, which may be part of the 30 hours of training required per reference period. A maximum of 12 hours of online training is allowed per reference period.

Chiropractors are experts in neuromusculoskeletal health (NMS) who evaluate, diagnose, treat and prevent biomechanical problems of a muscular, skeletal and nervous nature, paying particular attention to corrections of the spine, pelvic bones or other joints of the human body using their hands.

A chiropractor is authorized to determine, by clinical and radiological examination (if he holds a radiology license, which is the case of Sylvain Desforges) of the spine, bones of the pelvis and other joints of the human body, the indication of chiropractic treatment.

Opening hours and Services

TAG chiropractic clinics are open on weekdays (also on Saturdays in Laval) and we accept EMERGENCIES  and insurance.
